Welcome to the lab of Dr. Waliul Khan, situated within the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute at McMaster University. Under the leadership of Dr. Khan, our team is deeply committed to advancing our understanding of gastrointestinal health and its interplay with various factors such as intestinal serotonin, microbiota, autophagy, and more... in relation to intestinal immune response, inflammation and infection.

With a specific focus on gastrointestinal disorders, the Khan lab explores the interactions between the host and its microbiota as well as the pathogenesis of conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and host defense mechanisms in intestinal infection. The Khan lab aims to unravel the mechanisms underlying these diseases and pave the way for improved diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions.
